Dental implants are the gold standard for replacing one or more missing teeth. A dental implant involves replacing the missing root or roots with a titanium screw in a surgical manner. This procedure is mostly performed under local anaesthesia in the dental chair and is often less traumatic than extracting a tooth.
A Ceramic crown is placed on top of this titanium implant to replace the lost tooth shape. The average treatment time is 3-4months but in certain situations can be done during the same visit as removing a damaged or diseased tooth.
Dental implants can either be used as a single unit to replace one missing tooth, or as multiple units to replace more than one tooth or can be used under a full denture to anchor the denture and stop it from moving around and leading to embarrassing situations when socialising with your friends or family.
